Prequin, the alternative assets data provider, announced today that global private equity fundraising was weak in the fourth quarter of 2011, with US $52.5 billion raised by 108 funds. According to the press release, 19 buyout funds raised $18.4 billion.
For all of 2011, $262.6 billion was raised by 603 funds worldwide. Buyout funds accounted for $69.2 billion from 92 funds. Venture capital funds raised $32.3 billion worldwide across 133 funds.
